Places to visit in Kovalam

Another popular monument in Kovalam is a colossal structure that makes one reminiscent of the colonial past of the village. This fort is a beautiful example of the influence of British architecture in the South.

The most well developed beach in Kovalam is the most thronged by Western tourists. This beach named so for its 35 meters high iconic lighthouse located on top of the Kurumal hillock. Most popular hotels and beach shacks are located in this beach only.

Visit Lighthouse Beach one of the main attractions, and Samudra Beach which is the Jewel in the already heavily ornate crown of Kovalam.

It is one of the most popular beaches in Kovalam and was the first ever top-less beach in India. Topless sun bathing is still allowed and appreciated by the locals here, although topless bathing is prohibited. 

This is a popular museum which exhibits the amazing style of Keralian architectural design. This place also houses some exemplary specimen of handicrafts and carving-works by the artisans of Travancore from the bygone days.

This museum is located at the capital city of Trivandrum in Kerala and showcases exquisite ancient relics from the state’s past. A few km away from Kovalam this museum houses items made of bronze, wood, ivory and stone-works.  Established by the Maharaja of the city almost a century ago, this museum is a must-see for all tourists.

This popular Hindu temple is located in Thiruvananthapuram a few km away from Kovalam which is visited by tourists coming here.

The old lighthouse at the popular Lighthouse Beach is a popular building here at Kovalam. The view of the ocean from atop the light house is simply breathtaking and brilliant for scenic photography. It is located at the southern beach and is a popular landmark within the city. This is one of the oldest lighthouses in Kerala that has been guiding ships into the neighboring Vizhnjam Port for decades. The visiting timing at the lighthouse is from 3 to 5 in the evening.
