Places to visit in Matheran

As you travel from Kalyan to Katjat in Maharashtra, you are sure to come across the plateau region, known as Chanderi. Chanderi is one of the popular illustrious forts of Maharashtra. 

Feel the pleasure of climbing the pinnacle of nature’s own lap. The One Tree Hill Point is a beautiful natural spot that homes a single Jambhul tree atop. This lone tree has contributed to the name of the tourist spot.

This lake is also called Sharlott Lake and is one of the best places to enjoy peace and quietness. The Pisarnath temple is also at the end of the lake and is one of the best places to visit while you are here.

As the name signifies, you will find steps taking the form of a ladder helping trekkers come down from the top of the Matheran Valley.

Located right on the plateau region of Matheran, Louis point is truly a delightful place to surprise globe trotters from all over the globe. The beautiful views have been attracting everyone.

Situated right at the north-western part of Matheran Hills, Hart Point is a must visit place. This spot is also one of the most popular attractions in this region. Cradled by dense forests, the Hart Point is a must visit if you are in Matheran.

Matheran is basically an ecop-friendly tourist destination attracting numerous tourists from different parts of the world. This beautiful hill station which is cradled by the famous Shayadri Mountains, is unspoilt by manmade interventions. This beautiful place is ideal for sightseeing. This hill station is the perfect place to enjoy nature. There are plenty of mountains and hills to wander around and climb. The city is the ideal place to get away from the chaos of the city for a week or even longer.

There are plenty of different lookout points that you can visit around the area and each of them has their own views. Some of the top ones include Monkey Point, Louisa Point, One Tree Hill Point, Rambargh Point, Porcupine Point, Hart Point and many more.

There are only 2 parks in the area and one is called Paymaster Park, but if that is not enough for you there are plenty of mountains and other hills to explore. This park is one of the most beautiful areas of the city and should be visited and is the perfect place for kids to roam around. Other than the Paymaster Park, the N Lord Garden may also fascinate you with its scenic charm. 

There aren't any museums in the city, but that isn't surprising considering that it is a hill station. Here you can find plenty of mountains and hills to climb, but no museums to explore and enjoy. 

This revered shrine is located along the railway connector of Mumbai-Pune at Akoli. The temple has been built to worship Lord Shiva and is said to have been constructed during 1060.

There isn't much in terms of cultural activities here; unless you include the fort and the temples in the area. There are some major temples here, including Pisarnath Temple, Pisharnath Mahadev Mandir and many more.

Among the several holy shrines present in Matheran, Pisharnath deserves attention. Located near the pristine Charlotte Lake, this worship centre is embraced by lush greenery and a serene environment where you can meditate and sit to offer prayers to the God.

This temple is one of the few that are situated in the town and is definitely a top tourist attraction. The temple is beautiful and is brightly decorated so that you can't miss it.

This fort can be found on the top of the Prabal Hill, which is on the western side of the city. The fort was captured from the Mughals by Chhatrapati Shivaji. There is only 1 of the 4 original towers standing today; the site is definitely worth a visit.
