Places to Visit in Modhera

Patan was the ancient capital city of Gujarat, which houses a host of religious sites and architectural wonders of the Solanki era. There are various Jain temples in Patan, which stands as a memory of Idayat’s spiritual encounters during his journey between Baroda and Punjab. These Jain temples are prominent religious monuments that throw light into the religious past of a gone era.

The fabulous Taranga Hills are encircled by the Aravalli hills. It houses the marvellous 12th century Jain Temple, which was built by the Solanki rulers. You can go for trekking on these hills and make a visit to the Dharoi Dam nearby on your way back, which is a popular picnic spot to spend time.

Situated at a distance of 35 kilometres from Ahmedabad, the Thol Bird Sanctuary is an amazing place to spot an array of bird species amidst the serene landscape.

This is a quite popular 12th century cultural attraction for the tourists. The twin columns  are 40 feet high, supporting an arch and constructed in red and yellow sandstone. The majestic Torans are located along the banks of Sharmishtha river and is a must visit when you are here.

Ucharpi is a wonderful village in Mahesana located along the banks of Khari River and is packed with various attractions. Among the many temples here, the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple is renowned and is situated on the way to Chitroda village. 

The mound of Pavagadh hill is the location of the renowned 10th century Mother Kali Temple. It is a famous Hindu pilgrimage centre located at 762 meters above sea level. 

The Children’s Park, located in Gandhinagar is an amazing place for families and kids, to spend time. The park includes attractions like a lake with boating facilities and a mini train journey. Surrounded by the green gardens and trees, it is a tranquil place to unwind and relax.

Situated at a distance of 100 kilometres from Modhera, the Nalsorovar is a huge water bird sanctuary, which includes 360 tiny islands. It is one of the biggest shallow lakes in India, where you can spot a huge variety of birds like Rails, Ducks, Pelicans, Egrets, Coots and Geese. It is best to reach here by early morning to have a glimpse of the rich bird life here.

Situated in Hebatpur Village along the Sola- Santej Road, the amazing Science City is established by the government to develop the interest in science and technology.  Children will enjoy the various entertainment programs arranged here to learn scientific principals in a fun way. This wonderful place is inclusive of various pavilions, a planetarium, an amphitheatre and much more.

The Shankus Water Park is the first water park in India. It is situated in Ahmedabad and it is loaded with fun activities for all age groups. Filled with marvellous wave pools, towering slides, aqua tubes and a host of water rides, this amazing water park is a must visit for kids.

Situated at a distance of 33 kilometres from Modhera, the architectural wonder of Rani Ki Vav in Patan is a fabulous historical monument, constructed by Queen Udayamati of Solanki Dynasty. This is a brilliant example and it houses a chain of steps, pavilions and molded walls. It is a protected monument which is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. The enthralling landscape surrounding the sandstone wonder makes the place a superb location worth a visit.
