Place's to visit in Pelling

One of the best activities that the children can partake of in this area is fishing. Not only will they be able to fish in this area, but they can also splash in the water and if they know how to swim, they can wade around in the water if they can find a shallow point.

There are a few monasteries in the area which were built during 1697 AD, Sangchoeling Monastery and 1705, the Pemayangtse Monastery. Both of these monasteries are full of history and are full of incredible artwork.

There aren't any museums in this area, but that doesn't mean that there aren't places to learn about the culture and the history of the area. One of the best ways to learn about the history is to visit one of the local villages such as Darap and experience the lifestyle of the locals and learn about the area.

This rock garden is located close to the Karchen Power House and was developed purely to draw tourists to the area. There is a huge expanse of area covered with flowers and thick beautiful greenery. You will find resting sheds, fountains, large gardens, a cafeteria, ponds, a swimming pool, foot paths made of flat stones and even gardens that are made of stones around the area.

After breakfast we drive to Yuksom (5840 Ft / 1780 Mts, 35 Kms / 02 Hrs) on way panoramic sightseeing of Darap Village, Rimbi Water fall & Hydro Project, Khecheopalri Lake (6000 Ft / 1829 Mts), it is one of the sacred Buddhist mountain lake and it is believed that whatever is wished in front of the lake comes true. Myth is that when a leaf falls on the placid clear water surface, it is picked by a bird & Kanchanjunga Water fall. A further drive takes you to Yuksom (the meeting place of three monks) - the first capital of Sikkim. This was the place where the first Chogyal (a ruling dynasty in Sikkim) was crowned. There are many different lakes and waterfalls in the area which should definitely be visited by those who are into nature. Some of the top waterfalls include Changey, Khangchendzonga and Rimbi and the lake that is nearby is called Khecheopalri Lake.

There are so many different ways to enjoy nature here, especially since there are so many places to go. You can go and visit any of the waterfalls, the lake or the villages which each have their own ways to enjoy nature. One of the best ways is to simply sit next to the water bodies and relax for a while.
