Newgrange

This historic monument located in County Meath that is even older than the pyramids. From afar, it looks like a mound with a grassy top but underneath there are chambers and passageways containing the oldest tombs.

Book of Kells

These are very famous manuscripts with beautiful calligraphy and illustrations containing the 4 gospels. It dates back to 800 AD and now rides in the Trinity College in Dublin.

National Museum of Ireland

This is a beautiful mansion that was originally commissioned as a military barracks in the early 18th century. There is a diverse collection of the exhibit here that reveals plenty about the history and culture of the land.

Flea market

Dublin has some wonderful flea markets where you can pick up almost anything from second-hand bikes to furniture and other knick-knacks. The Dublin flea market is held every year last Sunday at the new market square.

Bay prawns

A lot of attention is given to the meat and fish products here and some of the specialty cuisine of the region includes Dublin Bay prawns, Irish stew made with mutton or beef, Colcannon which is a mixture of potatoes and cabbages and oysters that is best served with the omnipresent drink Guinness.

Brazen Head in Dublin is the country’s oldest pub and offers folk music performances too. The Barge serves excellent food along with drinks too. You can also try McDaid that was Oscar Wilde’s favorite.
