How to Reach Mexico

Travel Options

How to Reach Mexico By Air / Flight

Due to the sheer geographical distance, the most obvious way to reach Mexico would be by booking a flight from India to Mexico. Individuals may also take a flight to the U.S and then proceed from one of its domestic carriers. There are no direct flights available from India, however, most cities offer routes via 1-2 transit destinations. These transits depend upon the airline of selection. For instance, if one were to board an Air Canada flight from New Delhi, the layover would be in Toronto.

The capital offers the fastest route to Mexico City in comparison to other Indian cities such as Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. The duration from Indira Gandhi International Airport is about 22 hours and 49 minutes. However, certain airlines take as long as 42 hours based on the transit destination and waiting period. One can choose between any of the following airlines - Jet Airways, Air India, Air France, Air Canada, United Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Lufthansa and Emirates.

Benito Juarez International Airport is located just 5km from downtown Mexico City. It is Latin America’s busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic and aircraft movement. Equipped with duty-free stores, restaurants, bars, cafes, ATM’s and currency exchange services, one can find just about anything they require. Upon arrival, individuals can avail of the bus, Metrobus, metro, taxi or hotel shuttle services to reach their required destination.

Mexico is home to other efficient airports such as Cancun International Airport, Guadalajara International Airport and Monterrey International Airport.

How to Reach Mexico by Rail

For individuals who are seeking alternative modes of transportation, rail might just be your cup of tea! But there’s one pickle to consider. You’d have to take a flight from India to the U.S first! Yes, unfortunately, there are no trains available from India (it would be logistically impossible).

When travelling from the US, American Track (National Railroad Passenger Corporation) offers connectivity to various regions along the Mexican border from cities in New Orleans, Houston, Tuscon and LA. There are also luxurious private services available such as the Sierra Madre Express which operates between Arizona and Copper Canyon. The latter is a great way to enjoy the breath-taking landscapes of enchanting canyons, magical waterfalls and exotic flora and fauna.

How to Reach Mexico by Sea

India offers glorious cruises to multiple International ports around the world, unfortunately, Mexico isn’t one of them (it would be geographically and logistically impossible). But do not fret! Companies from the U.S offer decadent and plush cruise services to both - Pacific and Caribbean Mexico. From Carnival, to Royal Caribbean and Costa, one has the opportunity to book their cruise from the comforts of their homes in India! Individuals may reach Mexico, from the U.S via the following ports – Acapulco, Cabo San Lucas, Cozumel, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta and Tampico.
