Phnom Penhwas

The Independence Monumentof Phnom Penhwas built marking Cambodia's independence from France in 1953. It stands on the intersection of Norodom Boulevard and Sihanouk Boulevard in the centre of the city. It is in the form of a lotus-shaped stupa, It is of the style seen of the great Khmer temple at Angkor Wat.

Angkor Wat

Is one of the most important archaeological sites of the world and the national flag having the main temple Angkor Wat in its design reveals its importance. National Museum of Cambodia

The National Museum of Cambodia has the world’s finest collection of Khmer sculpture. It has pre-Angkorian collection. The Angkor collection includes several striking statues of Shiva from the 9th, 10th and 11th centuries, a gigantic pair of wrestling monkeys and several other statues leave the visitors awestruck. The sublime statue of a seated Jayavarman VII (r 1181–1219), his head bowed slightly in a meditative pose (Angkor Thom, late 12th century) is simply amazing. It also displays pottery and bronzes dating from the pre-Angkorian periodsand also more recent works such as a beautiful wooden royal barge.

Tamao Zoo
