Places to visit in Calgary

Located in the downtown’s Memorial park, it was constructed in the honour of the soldiers who died fighting both the world wars. During the time of the celebration of Remembrance Day, it is the site used for the ceremony of traditional wreath lying.

Facing the St. Mary’s Cathedral, it was earlier recognized as Village of Rouleauville. 12 interpretive panels that make up the plaza describe it as brick sculptured mural, telling the story of Rouleauville.

Dedicated to police officers and firefighters of Calgary who lost their lives when they were on duty, this plaza was unveiled to public in January 2006. The plaza comprises of 2 monuments, located at City Hall, facing the Municipal building. The history of the strength and commitment of the fire services and police are represented by the Walls of Memory, while the 3 storey tower- Lantern of Light, features coloured glass which is illuminated every night.

The branch of Dharma Realm Buddhist Association in Calgary was formed in the year 1987. It is dedicated to bring to the west, the teachings and preaching of Buddha. This association offers education in formal ceremonies, lectures and meditation on the doctrines of Mahayana Buddhism.
