Places to visit at Innsbruck

Innsbruck is especially renowned for this. It dates back to 16th century and was built under the order of Maximilian I in order to display his wealth publicly. There are in all 2657 copper tiles here that are gilded in real gold and glistens superbly once the sunlight falls upon it.

The historic City Hall is the major hub of tourists for it holds gatherings, annual events and well retains the features of Innsbruck. A series of reconstruction work was carried on from time to time which gave it a fresh lease of life.

The protected park situated on the edge of Altstadt covers the area of nearly 10 hectares. It is the major recreation area within the town and carries interesting stocks of matured trees, modernised children’s play park, and set of ponds, beautiful garden restaurant and a palm house to excite the small wonders.

The church is located obliquely to AltesLandhaus that was built nearly in 1615. The church has fresco of Holy Trinity nearest to oriel window outside the wall. You can find some carved pews inside as well.

Dom zu St. Jakob is the marvellous example of 18th century style of Baroque. The architecture of the Church is one of its distinguishing features.

This is the newest and most modern museum that unravels the impressive history of Tirol which was a turbulent one. The museum’s centrepiece is panoramic painting which is a gigantic one termed as Riesenrundgemalde. 

The beautiful museum covers the history right from prehistoric times to the middle ages. It imbibes within itself the Romanesque art and craft.

In the west at Kematen you will find the mouth of beautiful valley of Sellrain that attracts tourists in all seasons. There are a number of attractive climbs and walks here.

The column celebrates the withdrawal of the troops of Bavarians in 1703 and has become the beehive of tourist activities. Located on the top of the Corinthian Column is statue of Virgin Mary.

It is the major landmark and is situated in Old Town. It was made in the form of townhouse and was shaped in baroque gothic style.

This is the first class shopping centre in Innsbruck that comprises of 50 attractive shops along with restaurants and cafes. The mall is free of any barrier and has the most modernised shopping environment. It is designed by David Chipperfield, the star architect. It is a beautiful shopping place.
