Place's to visit in Mallorca

This walled fortress is situated in the Spanish municipality of Capdepera. This is the largest castle in Mallorca.  The construction of this castle began in 310 but in the 14th century it was built again on the remains of a deserted Muslim village.

For kids who have a knack for the sea life, Portals Nous, on the south west coast of Mallorca, is an interesting place. The sea animals here are so diverse in nature that they are bound to draw the attention of kids and adults alike. The Aquarium is still expanding and incorporating more sea creatures.

The cathedral is also referred to as La Seu. It is a Roman Catholic Cathedral in Palma. The cathedral was built in a place where an Arab mosque once existed. 55 metres wide and 121 metres long, the nave of the cathedral is 44 metres tall. The cathedral is designed in a gothic Catalan style with influences from Northern Europe. The construction began in 1229 under the rule of James I of Aragon but finished in 1601. The cathedral overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and Parc de la Mar.

This church was founded by the Holy Trinity of Valldemossa and the monks of Saint Honoratus in 1805. It has a beautiful solar clock. The monks in the hermitage lived in a self sufficient way with the help of the orchards, outbuildings and a fountain.

This ancient hermitage is located near the town Felantix, at the highest point of Serra de Llevant, 509 metres above sea level. This is still a popular pilgrimage site that is situated near two massive landmarks. One is a 35 metre column that has a satue of Christ with one hand extended in blessing and on one side you will find a 14 metre stone cross. 

Among the wide number of parks and reserves that Mallorca has, Protur Safari Park is worth mentioning. It is also known as “South pond”, a name given by the locals. This park was once said to be a part of SA Coma. The 1931 quake changed the landforms and as a result, this land area rose up. Different clubs, sports events and circuses are held in this park all round the year.

Just beside the Tukaekuri River, this park is used for motor camping as well as for picnic parties. You can also hold your picnic here and enjoy a sunny and warm day in the park.

Mondrago National Park is the place you will never want to miss if you are a nature lover. There is an arrangement of the helicopter tour here. If availed, you can have a wonderful view of the Kaimanwa range. Also, the tour covers, Mondrago National Park, a place to experience the lush green valley and forests. For the bird watchers, this surely is a trip of a lifetime.

The beach of Cala Agulla is located in the north east region of Mallorca. With golden brown sand, this beach is brilliant for a day out in the sun and even a game of volleyball.The beach is surrounded by a pine forest and is only 1.8 kms from Capdepera.

If you have a zeal for adventure, then you must visit the Bellver Castle in Palma. This is a circular castle that was built in the 14th century. It was built on a hill called Puig de Sa Mesquida as ordered by Jaume II. The view of the woods and the sea is best from this castle.
