Krzyztopor Castle was built in the years 1631 – 1644 by WawrzyniecSenes in Ujazd. It was famous for being the biggest castle in Europe until the castle of Versailles was built. Krzysztof Ossolinski wanted to impress his contemporaries and so, he had the castle – a monumental complex of palaces – erected in the shape of a pentagon. The design of the castle was unique since it was modeled on a calendar. The number of windows in the castle was equal to the number of days in a year and there were as many chambers as there were weeks.

Situated in Krakow, the Florian Gate is one of the most well-known examples of Gothic Towers in Poland and one of the most common tourist destinations. Constructed in the 14th century as a rectangular Gothic tower of “wild stone”, it was part of the city defenses against the attacks by the Turks.

Most of the sacred places in Poland are centred in Krakow. Most important among them is the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul, a Baroque Jesuit Church which is best known for the statues of the twelve disciples lining the fence at the front. Another major religious place in Poland is the Corpus Christi Church which is a great-looking Gothic Church dating back to the mid-1300s. This impressive brick church boasts of rich interiors and several side chapels.

The former is a memorial museum and education centre founded during 1944 at the site of the Majdanek Concentration Camp. It was the first museum of its kind in the world and is devoted entirely to showcasing the memory of the atrocities committed in the network of slave labour camps and sub-camps during World War II. The museum performs various tasks including scholarly research into the Holocaust in Poland.
