Santo Antonio da Ponta da Mina Fortress is a fort built in 1695, the ruins of which can be seen even today at Principe. Ruins of fortress Sao Jeronimo located at Sao Tome are also popular among tourists. San Sebastian Fort of Sao Tome was built in the year 1575 and is still in good condition. This best preserved fort also contains a museum and a lighthouse that was built in the year 1866.

Though spectacularly beautiful, Sao Tome and Principe lacks in major attractions for kids. They do not have any amusement parks or theme parks but they do have various natural parks and plantations. If your kids love swimming, they will enjoy at Sao Tome and Principe because it has many un-crowded and clear beaches. Kids can even enjoy turtle and whale watching.
