Places to visit in Toronto

This is war memorial that was built after World War I in memory of the Torontonians who lost their lives in saving their motherland and also commemorates soldiers who died in the Korean War and the World War II.   It was constructed using granite cuts and is one of the most beautiful monuments of the city.

The other name of this fort is Fort Toronto and was originally build as a French trading post but later abandoned. This happens to be one out of the three French fortifications in Toronto and hence, is worth is visiting.

Also known as the Lion Monument, this landmark in Toronto was built in the year 1939 in the honor of Queen Elizabeth’s and king George VI’s visit. It consists of a column that has a crown on the top and there is also a lion at the base.

This memorial that consists of three bronze figures is located at the Queen Street west and University Avenue and consists of a granite column at the base. There is another bronze figure at top of the memorial. This memorial dedicated to the martyrs of the Boer War was commissioned in the year 1910 and was restored recently in 2010 and is a worth a visit.

Christianity is the major religion in the city and hence, you will come across many churches like the St. Michael’s Cathedral, St. James Anglican Cathedral and St. Basil’s Church to name few. There is also an ISKCON temple in the city where the Hindu God and Goddess Radha-Krishna are worshipped. The Toronto Ontario Temple deserves a special mention as well. There are also Gurdwaras and Mosques in the city where people of respective religions come to worship.
