Lambasingi is situated approximately 1000 m. above the sea level in the Alluri Sitharama district of the Chintapalli Mandal in Andhra Pradesh, on the Eastern Ghats range. The altitude of this beautiful lush mountain landscape is 1025 m. Because of its location, this hamlet experiences chilling temperatures during the winter months. 

The distance of Lambasingi from Hyderabad is 600 km; 780 km from Chennai, 320 km from Vijayawada, and 135 km from Kakinada. 

Narsipatnam is the largest town in Lambasingi. 

Language spoken

Telugu is the official language of Lambasingi. Some of the other significant languages that are popular here mostly include Oriya and Bengali. The natives of this locale mostly speak their native tongue, Uttarandhra. 

Lambasingi Known for

Lambasingi Hills is especially noted for its dense plantations of both tea and coffee. Moreover, several fruit farms are growing, apples, pineapples, and strawberries. The place is abundant with enriched flora and fauna. 

Another highlighting reason that makes Lambasingi unique is that it is the only place in south India that experiences sub-zero temperatures and snowfall during the chilling winter months. If you are lucky enough, you can experience snow in Lambasingi between December and February. 

Lambasingi snow has earned its name Korra Bayalu, meaning, “If someone stays outside the house in the open they will freeze like a stick.” Lambasingi snowfall mostly happens during December and January.

How to reach Lambasingi

Since Lambasingi is an off-beat destination, you cannot reach there directly. However, it is well-connected by trains, planes, and roads. 

By air

The nearest airport is Vizag Airport. The approximate distance between Vizag and Lambasingi is 105 km. Vizag is well-connected by flight from nearly all the major cities in India. You can easily avail a flight to Vizag. However, if you are beginning your journey from Vishakhapatnam to Lambasingi, you have to opt for the route through the road. 

By train

Narsipatnam is the major city in this tiny hill station and the nearest train station is also located here, called the Narsipatnam Road Station at Chintapalle at an approximate distance of 20 km. 

On reaching the nearest Chintapelle rail station, you can easily hire a cab. It will take nearly an hour or so to reach your destination from the railway station. 

By road

Direct buses operate from Vizag to Lambasingi, covering a distance of 115 km. The nearest bus station is called the Lambasingi bus station. 

The two most popular road routes are Vishakhapatnam-Anakapelle-Lambasingi and Vishakhapatnam-Sabbavaram-Lambasingi. The first route takes nearly 2.5 hours while the second one takes nearly 3 hours.

The distance from Araku to Lambasingi is nearly 92 km. You can spend a day at Araku and then proceed towards Lambasingi.

  • One of the important places to visit in Lambasingi includes the Kothapally waterfalls, located in an idyllic hilly setting, 40 km from Lambasingi. To reach the falls, you have to go down a flight of around 100 steps. The dual bridges serve as the viewing deck.
  • You can witness the sheer floral beauty of Susan Garden or the Amber Coloured Garden on your way to Lambasingi. It is one of the most important Lambasingi tourist places.
  • Thajangi Reservoir is one of the most significant visiting places in Lambasingi. You can experience trampoline, zip-lining, traditional archery, and water-zorbing activities while soaking in the natural scenic beauty.
  • Kondakarla Bird Sanctuary holds special significance for birdwatchers and nature lovers among the list of Lambasingi visiting places. You can witness the unique bird flocks while exploring the domain by taking a convenient boat ride on Ava Lake. 
  • Annavaram Temple is one of the most highlighted places to see in Lambasingi. This Vishnu temple belongs to the Ratnagiri Range and depicts Dravidian architecture.

During summer months, the temperature rarely rises occasionally to 31o C, while it remains within 10o C during winter. The locale even witnesses occasional snowfalls. December and January are the coldest months here. 

While visiting Lambasingi, be careful to pack enough woollens, well-gripping shoes, a well-stocked first-aid kit, reusable bottles, a flashlight with spare battery stocks, mosquito repellent, toiletry blankets, and sleeping bags. 

Since Lambasingi is a comparatively lesser-known tourist spot, the tourism facilities are still in their developing stage. If you are planning camping, you have to carry your own stuff since there is no proper tenting facility developed yet in this region.

Araku is one of the most visited tourist places near Lambasingi. You can easily cover Araku to Lambasingi at the weekend. Two to three days are enough to make this trip fruitful. You can begin at Vizag and continue with the local sightseeing which includes Ananthagiri/Todimoda  Waterfalls, Borra Caves and Ananthagiri. 

Completing this you can proceed towards Lambasingi by road to witness Kothpalli Waterfalls, Thojangi Waterfalls, and Yerravaram Waterfalls. However, you must note that these waterfalls might go dry during the summer months. 

You can easily book cabs from Vishakhapatnam to Lambasingi. It takes nearly 2 hours to reach your destination. 

However, you can visit only Lambasingi too.
