Port Blair in Summer (March – May)

Temperature - The air temperature during the season of summer ranges between 24°C and 30°C.

Weather – The sea water reflects the dancing rays of the sun. With the weather being comfortably warm and not harsh, it too allows one to engage in adventure and sightseeing activities. If you are a water baby, you are in luck! This season is just perfect for scuba diving. Head to Havelock island rich in marine life and great underwater visibility to explore the marine way of life.

The Beach festival held in the month of April entertains you with activities such as volleyball, kabaddi and tug of war. This festival goes on for three days and is organised by the tourism department. Why you should visit now – This time of the year is blessed with just the right amount of heat for you to set out on an adventure or simply soak up the sun at the beach. As the days go by, temperatures dip further. However, the sun kissed azure sea and the cushiony wet sand are luxuries you will have all to yourself with almost no tourists around. 

Significant events – As if the pitter patter of the raindrops were not music to the ears already, the Monson Music festival is now synonymous to the monsoon season in Port Blair. A major highlight of this season, this festival comprises musical concerts, DJ sets and dance programs. Moreover, the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Army and the Air Force also arrange some shows that portray the might and vigour of the island.

Why you should visit now – This is the best time to visit in case you are looking for some quality time with your family, away from the rush of the tourists. A display of true Port Blair flavour, you will find everything from local handicraft items to collections of rare and indigenous flora and fauna. Local dance and music performances also display the heritage and way of life of this island and its people. Another festival that takes you deeper into the roots of this island is the Block Mela. This festival portrays the way of life of the rural population of Andaman and Nicobar.
