Places to Visit in Moldova


This is a monumental city located on the bank of Dniester River about 160km north of Chisnau. Also this is the administrative centre of the Soroca district.

This monument is dedicated to the victory of the Russian-Turkish war. This 13 mtr square shaped structure was completed in 1840 and attracts a good number of visitors.

The monument is built in the city Bender, which is located on the river Dniester. The memorial was opened on 22nd August 1984 and was proposed by a popular architect A.G Polyansky.

This is a self-governing church that comes under Russian Orthodox Church and is the largest one in the country. The head of the church is Metropolitan Vladimir, who is the permanent member of Holy Synod. Also there is Orheiul Vechi Monastery Complex which offers a fascinating sight of panoramic limestone cliff.

Moldova has parks and gardens where kids and families can enjoy spending time together. Chisinau is best known for having beautiful gardens where the parks diagonally cross each other, forming two diamonds. The Gradina Publica Stefan cel Mare si Stint is the oldest park which is a must visit if you have a kid. The sheer fountains present there and the scenic beauty will attract all and sundry

Travellers can enjoy exploring the ancient belongings of Moldova which are still preserved in the museums. One such gallery is Pushkin Museum where you can view tiny cottages filled with original furnishings and personal items of Russian’s national poet Alexander Pushkin (1799-1837). The museum also has three-room literary museum facing the cottage. There is the National Ethnographic & Nature Museum which highlights the life-sized reconstruction of dinothere. Apart from these, the enthusiasts can also enjoy exploring taxidermied animals, covering geology and botany. One can also visit Tiraspol National United Museum which exhibits the work of the famous poet Nikolay Zenlinsky.

Sports: If you are a football lover then book your seat at Dinamo Stadium in Chisinau where occasional football matches are played.

Adventure: Enjoy paragliding in Calarasi, biking, caving at the Caves of Surprises at Criuleni. Enjoy hiking at the highest peak of Moldova and other adventure activities.

Café: To enjoy wonderful coffee, visit Cactus Café which also serves some excellent food that can be enjoyed under fabulously decorated interiors.

Restaurants: There are restaurants that serve French, Russian, Italian, Central Asian, German and Eastern European food items. To taste these, you must visit Symposium, Abazhur, Carmelo, Kumanyok, Grill House, Avenue and a few others.  Each of these restaurants serves dishes that are accompanied with authentic wines.

One can experience the nightlife in Chisinau by visiting nightclubs and other entertaining places. Visit Booz Time where young crowd enlightens the venue by dancing to the tunes of the favourite tracks. There are theme nights like salsa, Latino and Retro Sundays.  Also visit Robin Pub which is decorated for a hangout zone. You can enjoy your stay tasting different venues like pastas, grills and deserts. Other places are Cocos Prive, Decadance Club, Fashion TV.

There are a very few street markets including Flower Market and Kvint Shop. Visit Plata Centrala at Chisinau where you can find fresh vegetables and fruits are sold.
