There are three air terminals near Kodaikanal. One is at Trichy which is at a distance of 150 km; the other is at Madurai 120 km and the third one is at Coimbatore which is 150 km away. From these airports one can choose to travel by buses or cars.
the distance of Kodaikanal from the city of Dindigul is of 90 km where one can take a bus to Kodaikanal. Frequent buses also ply from other cities within the state to Kodaikanal. The bus fares can cost about INR 150 per individual for a one way trip and offer a comfortable ride.

A drive to Kodaikanal along the Kodai road can cost nearly INR 1700 for a one way trip which is of 80 km. it is a 2 hour drive. You can also come from Madurai which takes a 3 and a half hours drive. One can also choose to drive from Kochi in Kerala via another popular hill station Munnar which 297 km away.
The nearest rail head is at Kodai Road which is 100 km from the town. The only mode of transport from the rail station to the town is by taxis so the fares are often too high and not negotiable. You can also come to another nearby railway station called at Dingul. This is a better station from where you can easily Kodaikanal in various ways as it is a big city. Auto rickshaws are also available for hire here and cost a meager INR 50 to get to the bus stand. There are frequent buses from Dingul to Kodaikanal.
